We asked our friends over at Concepts & Colorways to delve into some of the best interior design color trends of the season inspired by recent runways. Luckily, paint colors are their specialty.
It’s always fun to see the hottest fashion color trends make their way into our home interiors. Here at Concepts & Colorways, we keep on top of these color trends and explore ways to work them into beautiful living spaces. In fact, the Pantone Fashion Color Trend Report for Fall/Winter 2018 has an exciting collection of new colors to work with. These colors captured our hearts as fashion pieces on the runway at New York Fashion Week. But, they would also look great as color accents to go along with the latest interior design color trends.
The collection of colors in this season’s report run the gamut from burnt oranges, bold blues, deep reds, bright yellows, vivid purples, and my personal favorite, teal. There are also a few key neutrals to choose from with an off-white, navy, cool gray and natural beige. I can picture all of these interior design color trends fitting in perfectly for a new room refresh. In fact, the designers at Décor Aid have recently used these in their own interior projects.
With 15 colors to choose from, you’re sure to find something to inspire from this palette. Let’s take a closer look at each one and also explore creative ways Décor Aid interior designers have used these interior design color trends for their projects.
QUETZAL GREEN
This one is my personal favorite so, I’m going highlight it first. It’s a deep blue-green color that could be described as a teal, but Pantone calls it Quetzal Green. This color is a great choice for Mid-Century Modern rooms or for any space where you want a vintage inspired vibe. The Quetzal Green chairs add a fun, retro look to the modern living room design above.

MARTINI OLIVE
Martini Olive is a greenish-brown hue that adds an earthy tone to a design. This color could easily be added to a room with rustic wood finishes like this exposed wood ceiling. It can be paired with blacks and grays to keep the palette more modern.
LIMELIGHT
Bright yellows, like Limelight, can easily get overpowering if used in excess. This yellow-green can be the center of attention even if used in tiny amounts. It only takes a splash of Limelight in this wall art to create a focal point for this bathroom design.
CEYLON YELLOW
Ceylon Yellow is a spicy version of mustard yellow. This color makes a great accent in modern spaces and can add an exotic touch to a look. Pair it with painted white brick, natural woods, and black accents for a stylish look like the bar area above.
CROCUS PETAL
This lavender purple tone adds a refreshing spring-like feel to the autumnal palette. Crocus Petal is a great choice for adding a feminine touch to an interior and pairs well with white and black accents. This color looks absolutely beautiful on these kitchen cabinets when paired with the pop of metal accents in the hardware.
NEBULAS BLUE
It doesn’t get any better than a bright blue sofa. Except, maybe two bright blue sofas. Nebulas Blue adds a bold pop of color to this traditional style living room and coordinates beautifully with the dark wood accents.
ULTRA VIOLET
This bold purple is Pantone’s Color of the Year for 2018. It’s an attention-grabbing hue called Ultra Violet that makes a statement when used as accents in a room. This color pairs well with whites, light grays and blonde tones like the ones used in the dining room above.
VALIANT POPPY
Valiant Poppy is a bold shade of red that fits in well with both modern and country looks. It’s a great choice for adding a colorful accent to an otherwise neutral interior. These Valiant Poppy chairs become the focal point in this modern dining area. And as you can see, the red contrasts nicely with the dark reclaimed wood and the crisp, white walls.
RUSSET ORANGE
Bright orange is still gaining popularity among interior design color trends and this Russet Orange is sure to be a crowd-pleaser. This hue is a great accent when you’re looking for a pop of bold color. Try adding Russet Orange upholstery to your kitchen stools for a touch of warmth.
RED PEAR
Red Pear is a deep red color that leans toward the maroon or burgundy family. It adds depth to any interior and pairs well with black, white, and light tan tones. Add this color trend to your room with an exposed red brick accent wall.
MEERKAT
Meerkat is a burnished brown that’s a slightly darker version of burnt orange. This toasty color can be used as a neutral in a room and looks great in white rooms with black accents. QUIET GRAY
This soft gray hue is called Quiet Gray and is the perfect companion for white trim and warm wood floors. This is a timeless color that’s perfect for creating a restful feel in a room. Quiet Gray is also a great wall color choice for those that like to switch out their accent colors with the seasons.
ALMOND BUFF
Almond Buff is a classic beige or light tan color that could also be described as light camel brown. It adds a natural touch to a design and pairs well with white, wood tones and bold accent colors. When looking to add interior design color trends in your home, go with a natural almond buff fiber rug or sheepskin throws.
TOFU
White rooms are as popular as ever so, and of course, we need to have a white tone in this palette. Tofu is a creamy white that makes an understated backdrop for showing off your decor. Pair this alternative to white interior design color trends with weathered brick and modern furniture for an urban loft look like the one above.
SARGASSO SEA
Last, but not least comes a warm Sargasso Sea. This dark navy blue is an extremely popular option for interior design color trends at the moment. So, don’t be afraid to add it to your home in the form of wall art and accent pieces. The best thing about this color trend is that it’s also a timeless classic. So, you really can’t go wrong when going with Sargasso Sea.
