Stunning Avroko Restaurant Designs

INSPIRATION

framed florals restaurant design

Concept firm AvroKO has been designing the hottest restaurants for almost 15 years. Offering a fresh take on hospitality and commercial design , their trendy and memorable interiors generate buzz from the masses and applause from the critics. So it’s no surprise that their two newest projects, Ninebark in Napa Valley and Swift & Sons in Chicago, do not disappoint.

These two new eateries represent AvroKO’s range of talent when it comes to restaurant design. For the locally inspired Ninebark restaurant in Napa, California, a three-story, centuries-old building was designed in reference to a storehouse. Each of the airy floors features a rotating display of herbs, produce, branches and flowers, artfully arranged on tables and hung on the walls like framed works of art. Every level is meant to offer a different experience, while an overall garden-driven aesthetic imparts the historic building with a modern charm.

In Chicago, Swift & Sons was imagined as the headquarters for cattle magnate Gustavus Franklin Swift. Streamlined, office-style furnishings lend the space a classic steakhouse feel, but with a twist. Brass accents, plush booths, and Jean Prouvé chairs create a retro-futuristic aesthetic, while framed photos of cows and a large mural depicting a farm reference the restaurant’s Midwestern roots. The expansive, opulent space is housed in a former meatpacking facility, the concrete beams and arched ceilings remnants of the space’s history.

The brick building that houses Ninebark is known as the site of an infamous murder in 1974 that forced the restaurant there to close for 37 years.

The ground floor offers a casual bar and dining experience. Rough-hewn floors and tin ceilings reference the building’s historic charm, contrasted by modern wishbone-shaped bar stools.

The design of Swift & Sons takes its inspiration from Gustavus Franklin Swift, one of the pioneers of the cattle trade industry in the 19th century. The restaurant is imagined as the titan’s office and company headquarters.

The cavernous space features industrial accents that reference its former life as a meatpacking factory. Concrete pillars and brasserie tile are juxtaposed with sleek leather bar stools and minimalist pendant lighting.

A large-scale mural on the back wall features a rural farm scene. Framed photos of farms and cows, along with clocks showing the time of other Midwestern farm locales, hark back to the restaurant’s roots.
