A Modern New Jersey Kitchen Remodel

Before & After

new jersey kitchen remodel

A beautiful tudor house in South Orange, New Jersey was woefully in need of a gut renovation: good bones, but nothing much else to write home about. But a prime location and huge lot was enough to convince our clients. Creating a contemporary space was the goal throughout, but we were also tasked with preserving the original Tudor style and keeping the idyllic neighborhood in mind.

We began the project by modeling the kitchen and bathrooms. An antiquated kitchen was constrained by a breakfast nook and extraneous walls. So we gutted all the internal walls, which dramatically opened up the space.

With an expansive blank slate, we began constructing the kitchen and bathrooms with a grey and white palette that highlighted the house’s original styling. Balancing the original and contemporary elements of the space was achieved through dark cabinetry in the kitchen and wooden units in the downstairs bathroom. White tile creates a contrasting color scheme that accompanies the more contemporary elements.
