Here at Décor Aid, we were honored to be a part of the New York Junior League’s Spring House Tour, which features the city’s most prestigious residences. We were thrilled to share the gut renovation project we did at our clients’ five-level brownstone in Manhattan’s Turtle Bay neighborhood.
Even among the exceptional homes highlighted in the tour, the Décor Aid brownstone was one of the largest and most-anticipated properties. Visitors were especially struck by the abundance of inconspicuous storage in the home–a definite luxury in New York. The clients wanted a clean, uncluttered look, so our master designer incorporated storage hidden behind custom floor-to-ceiling wall units.
Visitors were also wowed by the gorgeous walnut wood used throughout the home, including wall panels that conceal a bar off the front parlor in the first floor pass-through when it’s not in use. And the second-floor kitchen features sleek walnut cabinetry and a custom curved built-in bench at the kitchen dining table.
Perhaps the ultimate wow factor is the home’s top-floor master suite, which includes a luxurious bathroom that features floor-to-ceiling Carrara marble, a floating wooden vanity, a sculptural soaking tub, and a separate shower with rainfall shower head. The sunny master bedroom has floor-to-ceiling windows and incorporates elegant neutral textiles with warm wood accents and glamorous mid-century lighting.
