A West Village Duplex with Hudson River ViewsNew York, NY
Located on a quiet, tree-lined street, this two-bedroom duplex offers a fresh start for a newfound bachelor. The owner wanted a full refresh and designer bedrooms on a modest budget. Our Master designer Alex achieved an entirely new look using clever and cost-effective solutions. To do this, he focused on making minor, inexpensive changes that provided maximum impact. Refinished cabinets and new hardware gave the kitchen an instant uplift, while new arrangements for the client’s existing furniture and artwork improved the function and flow of the common areas, adding a dedicated home office and guest room to the layout.
He strategically purchased key, inexpensive home décor pieces, including lighting and furniture, to achieve a clean, modern aesthetic at minimal expense. In the contemporary living room, white room paint lends a streamlined, masculine feel, while grasscloth wallpaper was used in the two bedroom interiors to add a layer of texture and visual interest. Orange pillows, throws and tabletop accessories were incorporated to provide a dose of color to the largely neutral space and compliment the copper and wood tones found throughout the apartment. Our interior designers sourced vintage finds from flea markets and local shops to achieve an eclectic, collected feel. The result is a contemporary design that’s warm, welcoming, and masculine.
