A Reenvisioned Master Bedroom Goes from Drab to DeluxeBefore & After
Creating a compelling interior design for a rental space provides a distinct set of challenges. For one, there’s the issue of nosy landlords. But there’s also the practicality of designing for a space that might be temporary. With these two design challenges, in addition to the plethora of difficulties that can arise in the redesign process, it can seem impossible to create a lasting home within your rental.
An asymmetrical bedroom layout made it difficult for our clients to make the most of their home, and consequently left the space feeling bare. They were using a stack of books for a nightstand, but had nowhere to crack open a book. And so we resolved to create an arrangement which would allow for a reading space.
By selecting a comfortable headboard from Room and Board and placing in the room’s dominant position, we were able to create a more sensible and cohesive room layout. By establishing a more symmetrical furniture arrangement, we separated the room into two areas: a reading nook and an area for getting ready in the morning.
