Tip of The Week: For Extra Storage, Think DoorsInterior Design Guide
When it comes to concerns regarding home decoration and interior design, storage is almost always at the top of the list. No matter how spacious one’s home or how frequently one clears out one’s closet, things always seem to pile up. If you’ve run out of wall space for shelving and can’t fathom adding any more cabinets to your home, there are still strategies you can use to add more storage space.
“If you’re running low on storage,” our designers advise, “start thinking about under-utilized spaces in your home. The spaces above doorways and the backs of doors are excellent and often overlooked places to add storage.” Rather than letting your doors function simply as dividers between rooms, try adding hooks or small racks to them to increase your home’s storage capacity. You can also look into doors, like these clever designs by Nendo (pictured above), that incorporate storage directly into the construction itself.
