A Tiny Greenwich Village Apartment Is Transformed into a Cozy HavenNew York, NY
Living in a small apartment shouldn’t preclude you from having a luxurious home. Our client, living on a quiet tree-lined street in Greenwich Village, loved the location of her apartment, but was having trouble finding furniture pieces that could maximize her square footage. So she reached out to Decor Aid, and tasked us with creating a fully realized home within her compact space.
When we arrived at the apartment, we found that our client’s lack of space had forced her to settle for understated pieces that she wasn’t thrilled with. And so we resolved to create a space that could be both stylish and functional, space-conscious and chic.
To start, we sanded down the parquet floors and remodeled the entire bathroom. We installed new tile, sourced a sleek wood cabinet, and picked out new stainless steel fixtures. A fresh coat of semi-gloss white gave us a blank canvas for transforming this apartment into an exquisite and functional home.
The living room was the most spacious area of the apartment, and so we decided to source a large sofa, to give our client a space to kick back and relax at the end of the day. A low-profile sectional was the perfect compromise between comfort and flexibility; a circular coffee table balances out the rooms more angular elements, without disrupting the walkway between the bedroom and kitchen.
To keep the bedroom feeling comfortable and cozy without feeling cramped, we sourced a West Elm bed frame with a slim headboard. A low-profile vanity was added at the foot of the bed, which gives our client a space to get ready, without disrupting any of the apartment’s views.
Our client had previously been eating her meals on her sofa, and so we sourced a lucite console with two lucite barstools. Lucite keeps the foyer from feeling cluttered, and the console doubles as an entry table. The final touches include a brass bar cart and brass accents, to give this sleek apartment a luxe finish.
